The Golden Rule: When you check the serial number on the websites below, verify the Attributes (Color, Storage, Model Year). If the website says "Red 64GB" and you are holding a "Blue 256GB" phone, IT IS A FAKE.

How to Spot a "Refurbished Scam" (Laptops)
The Trick
Sellers in Computer Village often take old laptops, edit the Registry to make them look newer (e.g., changing "Core i5 2012" to display as "Core i7 2018"), and polish the casing.
The Solution: BIOS Check
- 1. Turn off the laptop completely.
- 2. Turn it on and immediately press F2 or F10 (HP/Dell) or F1 (Lenovo) repeatedly.
- 3. Look at the System Information screen in the BIOS.
The BIOS cannot be faked easily. Whatever specs you see there are the real ones.
Screen Resolution
Right-click Desktop > Display Settings. If a "4K Laptop" shows "1366x768", it's a low-end screen swap.
Battery Cycle Count
For MacBooks: Click Apple Logo > About This Mac > System Report > Power. If cycles are > 500, the battery is old.
